Forget the erroneous "6" that I added inadvertantly after "ICH". The only important thing here is that this is an unsupported device, and you cannot expect that it will work today or even less tomorrow. The only thing to do is then to upgrade the emulation to a more recent version. But if this can work, it will make RealTek audio drivers certainly sound blaster ac97 withit, with less unsupported workarounds for old hardware bugs.
Yes I've googled sound blaster ac97 around to find a solution, and still I cannot find any one. None of the solutions found do really apply to VirtualBox emulations, because all these solutions using various OEM drivers with various workarounds for the same problems are only meant to solve variably the same issues in a sound blaster ac97 hardware but not in the virtual emulation where they are not at all relevant and where they would finally cause more problems.
Any opinions? Feb 27, I just posted about this and I think AC97 is bad.

Either there is a setup program, or you can change the sound options from within the game. Brought to you sound blaster ac97 aitorsmjhall1. Re: [Freedos-user] How to setup Sound Blaster? There are loops of wire on the AC97 connectors which will make the rear output work but it won't be switched by the front panel connectors like it would be with a proper AC97 front panel. I would suggest trying the HD audio connector first, if the rear audio output on your motherboard doesn't work try using the AC97 connector instead. I'm not sure of the exact different I assume that HD audio will gives better audio quality but I'll always go for HD audio if the mainboard has it, if the mainboard only has AC97 then I'll use AC97 connector. It was faint but very noticeable. And it wasn't because of the mic picking up sound from the speakers.
