The bios and other machine info recognize a duel core as well as Sisoft Sandra. Just Sonar only shows one cpu bar.

This seems to imply acpi multiprocessor pc motherboard, as soon as a HAL is visible and selected, it's "compatible" - I hope meaning it's supported to change to that HAL. It also seems to imply that it's supported to be running a single-CPU machine with the multiprocessor kernel - and that it doesn't hurt.

Clean Install XP- ACPI or "Standard"
These would be better running NT 3. Some older board have the option to even disable the APM.
I have skipped trivial steps in between so just press next on them. I really need some help.

Acpi multiprocessor pc motherboard are Pentium 4 CPU's that appear to Windows as having two cores, but are actually single core, Hyper-Threading models. Most want a course in Intel architecture which I find the Wikipedia articles to. I reinstalled XP x64 and its still showing ACPI singleprocessor I've done this many times on PCs for testing mulit-processor software from ACPI Uniprocessor to ACPI Multiprocessor.
